WINFRED MAX PRICE

Winfred Max Price, 85, a resident of Clayton, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 17, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula with Reverend Joe Vickers officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. Burial followed in the Adams Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. A visitation was held one hour prior from 1:00 until the service at the funeral home. Flowers were accepted or memorial contributions can be made to the Adams Chapel Cemetery Fund- c/o Bobbie Hartzog: 2865 Highway 131, Clayton, Alabama 36016.

Max was born September 29, 1938 to the late Lloyd Frank Price and Ella Marie Hartzog Price. After graduating from Baker Hill High School in 1957, he then worked as a welder until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1961. Following his two years of service, he was honorably discharged and began working as an ironworker at the Harbison Walker. Max continued his employment when the company sold to Mineral Manufacturing in 1999. In 1968, after a lengthy courtship, Max married the love of his life Eleanor Jewell Kirkland on June 29. Max’s last day of work at the plant was on May 8, 2024 when he took leave to care for his beloved wife. He loved taking pictures of anything or anyone, growing vegetables and giving them away. Max could not stand to sit still, he always looked for things to keep him busy, making sure things were always done the right way. He loved visiting people and spending time with his own family. Max was a member of the Adams Chapel Methodist Church in Clayton.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Jewell Price; his parents; a grandson, Ian Price. Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Chris Price (Leah) and Jason Price; four grandchildren, Max Lee Price, Alex Price, Emilia Price, and Cameron Price (Catherine); a sister, Elaine Bryan (Hardy).

Serving as active pallbearers were Eddie Brogden, Keith Bryan, Keith Kirkland, Paul Hughes, Hal Brown, and Wayne Faulk. Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula was entrusted with the arrangements.
