An annual tradition at Blue Springs State Park on Highway 10 is to take the plunge into the cold spring fed pool at the park on January 1. Some years the weather is frigid making the entrance into the pool a little more painful but this year, the first day of the year brought much warmer temperatures to south Alabama. It’s a shock to the body jumping into the pool in the hot summer time so it takes brave souls like shown in the picture this year to take the plunge any time of year, particularly on January 1.
