Ruby “Celeste” Grubbs Clements, a beloved mother, wife, educator, and devout follower of Christ, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, surrounded by family, at the age of 73. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3 P.M. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ken Bush and Rev. Chris Wilkinson officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery Addition. The visitation for Mrs. Clements was held prior to the service at 1 P.M.
Born on December 21, 1951, Celeste was a proud graduate of Eufaula High School, Class of 1970 where she had the honor of being drum major. She then went on to be a majorette in the Sound of the South Marching Band at Troy State University, while earning a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
Celeste spent her life sharing love, wisdom, and grace with those around her. A passionate educator, she dedicated many years to shaping young minds, leaving a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to learn from her. Her lifelong dedication to education led her to teach for 39 years, 12 of which were spent at Quitman County Elementary School and 27 with the Eufaula City Schools.
Celeste was an unwavering supporter of her children’s careers, particularly her sons in the world of coaching, where she was always present to cheer them on and offer her encouragement. After retirement, she played a key role in helping her daughter run her retail store Red’s Boutique & Chattahoochee Outfitters for 10 years.
She was married to her loving husband, Thomas, for 50 wonderful years, building a partnership based on faith, devotion, and shared dreams. Together, they raised three children, Tom, Todd and Kayce, who were the joy of her life. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and her love for her family was immeasurable.
Celeste was deeply faithful, and her love for Jesus Christ was the foundation of everything she did. Her life was a testament to the power of love, prayer, and grace. She spent her life serving others, and her legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Celeste is survived by her husband, Thomas, and their son Tom Clements (Kim), grandchildren Peyton Ball (Cameron), Dylin Kate, Kaylee, Cole; son Todd Clements (Haley), grandchildren, Amelia, Brody, Cooper; and daughter Kayce Drew (Corbett), grandchildren Hudson, Caleb and Jacob; sister Catherine Thomas, niece Claire; sister Yvette Westbrook (Dennis), niece Laura Cobb (Josh), nephew Justin Westbrook (Haley), niece Meredith Rutland; and many extended family members and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents Martha Boddie Grubbs and Judge Heyward Grubbs.
