

Robert D. Wilkinson, a resident of Blue Springs, Alabama, died Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 68. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A. M. Friday, October 1, 2021, in the Shiloh Word Fellowship Church, located on Highway 10, between Blue Springs and Clopton, with Reverend James E. Ward, Jr. and Reverend Charlie Joyner officiating. The family received friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Holman Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations was in charge of arrangements. Robert Wilkinson was born and reared in Barbour County, son of the late Joe Wilkinson and Eunice Campbell Wilkinson. He moved to Blue Springs thirty-six years ago. Robert was a member of the Shiloh Word Fellowship Church. He was retired from the State of Alabama Road Department as a Maintenance Superintendent after forty-four years employment. Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Campbell and Mary Jane Robinson, two brothers, Ed Wilkinson and Joe Wilkinson, Jr., and also his mother-in-law, Virginia Ward. Surviving relatives include his wife, Jenita Ward Wilkinson; a daughter, Brittany Joyner (Michael), Midland City; a sister, Marilyn Matinestz (Maurice); two brothers, William Wilkinson (Betty Jean) and David Wilkinson (Cherry); two grandsons, John Joyner and Joshua Joyner; his father-in-law, Reverend James Earl Ward, Sr., and a brother-in-law, Reverend James E. “Buddy” Ward, Jr. (Charlene); numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers were Sam Thomas, George Thomas, Rodney Reeves, Bobby Haynes, Desmond Johnson and Jamey Brascom. Holman Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of funeral arrangements.
