PREPARE FOR ENTRY - Some of the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency Response Team are armed and ready to enter the front entrance of Barbour County High School in Clayton when dispatched to an active shooter call at the school. The mock training took place at the school last week during which Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith, deputies, local police officers, rescue squad personnel, teachers and other school personnel participated. The real-life scenario played out with the shooter being apprehended and all school personnel taken to safety outside the building. Sheriff Smith said he plans to have additional training at other schools and the county courthouses. See addition photos on Page 8.
