Maricka Neal Carter, 80, of Eufaula, Alabama, passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 2 P.M., at Sardis Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Mc-Creight officiating. Burial will follow in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Born January 23,1944 in Clio, Alabama, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Douglas Neal and Annie Maudrene Wilkes Bowman. She was a graduate of Clio High School and Wallace Trade School. She was a member of Sardis Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter enjoyed camping, horseback riding and spending time with family.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Carter, her granddaughter, Amanda JoLee Carter Goins and one brother, Roger Bowman. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Southern Care Hospice.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Bobby) Wright; her son, Darren (Penny) Carter; three grandchildren, Mason (Lauren) Carter, Clifton Carter, Daytin Peacher; four great grandchildren, Eden Carter, Gage Carter, Kaylee Goins, Jase Goins; one sister, Marcia (Lawrence) Arnett; three sisters-in-law, Sue Bowman, Hazel Champion, Elizabeth Slay.

Active pallbearers will be Daytin Peacher, Clifton Carter, Mason Carter, Danny Champion, Danny Giddens, Glen Helms and Wesley Bowman.
