Lorain Walters Garner, a resident of Clayton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Troy Health and Rehab. She was 96 years old.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Clayton with Bro. Jack Walters, Rev. Shane Traylor, and Rev. Bill Brown officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. Burial followed in the Clayton Cemetery. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of the flowers the family asks contributions to be made to Clayton Baptist Church- PO Box 4, Clayton, Alabama 36016.
Lorain was born February 19, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of the late Keir W. and Ella Miller Walters. She was employed with Clayton Elementary School as a reading teacher, and she also worked for Van Heusen. She enjoyed doing ceramics and spending time with her family. She loved and adored her grandchildren. Lorain was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 46 years, Ralph Garner; brother, Floyd Walters and sister, Annie Mae Little.
Survivors include her loving son and daughterin law, Carl and Nancy Nix Garner of Clayton, Alabama; two grandchildren, Lori Garner Garrett (Hubie) of Banks, Alabama and Timothy Carl Garner (Britney) of Mountain Brook, Alabama; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Kilpatrick (Zachary), Cassidy Lillian Garrett, Daisey Mae Garrett, and Margaret Lorraine “Mae” Garner; two great-great grandchildren, Tyler Benjamin Kilpatrick and Jacob Douglas Kilpatrick. Asked to serve as pallbearers were Timothy Garner, Hubie Garrett, Zachary Kilpatrick, Kendall Smith, and Phillip Walters.
