LARGE ALLIGATOR HARVESTED - Terry and Jason Stewart harvested a 13’2” 647- pound alligator on Lake Eufaula recently. The Stewarts participated in the annual state regulated alligator hunting program allowing a limited number of tags to be issued, which are drawn by a lottery system, to provide recreational opportunities and help control the alligator population. The alligator season takes place annually in mid-August over two weekends. The purpose of the season is a regulated method to manage the alligator population and provide a recreational experience. It is illegal to hunt or kill alligators outside the permitted season and outside the designated Alligator Management Areas.
