Dorothy Claire Johnson Furth, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Baptist Health South. She was 92 years old.

The family had a private graveside service Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Alabama with Reverend Shane Traylor officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. In lieu of flowers the family asked contributions to be made to Clayton Baptist Church-P.O. Box 4 Clayton, Alabama 36016. Claire was born December 13, 1931, in Clayton, Alabama to the late James Arthur Johnson and Elenor Grace Warr Johnson. She obtained her master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Alabama and later in life she retired from IBM in Chicago, Illinois. Claire enjoyed traveling the world and especially loved going on cruises.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jules Furth; daughter, Jane Warr Thornton; sister, Judy Johnson West.

Survivors include two sons, James Roberson (Suzanne) of Clayton, Alabama and James Furth (Anna Junck) of Montgomery, Alabama; three grandchildren, Michael Roberson (Sheri) of St. Augustine, Florida, Shane Allen (Chris) of St. Augustine, Florida, James “Jamey” Roberson (Suzanne) of Mountain Brook, Alabama; seven great-grandchildren, Ian Roberson, Alex Roberson, Avery Allen, Taylor Dixon, Alex Roberson, Annabelle Roberson, and Casey Dixon.
