Leadership Barbour Class XIX held their Court System Day on Thursday, August 14. The class spent their morning in the Eufaula Courthouse visiting with a variety of local court officials. Circuit Judge Burt Smithart, District Judge Matt Horne, Circuit Clerk Paige Smith, Assistant District Attorney Donnie Ezell, and Juvenile Officer Dexter Grimsley all addressed the group and answered questions. The group attended a session of Small Claims Court with Judge Horne and were given a tour of the building by Paige Smith. After lunch at the Chamber of Commerce, the class traveled to the Clayton Courthouse where they were greeted by Probate Judge Susan Shorter who explained her duties and took them on a tour of the building including the vault that holds the county’s historical records.
