COLLECT DONATIONS -Darren McLendon of Clayton along with his mother, Shirley Patrick of Hazel Green, and many other volunteers have been collecting items for the North Carolina Hurricane Relief. Items are being collected daily from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Clayton Dollar General parking lot where a U-Haul truck is parked to collect donated items. The volunteers are trying to collect enough items to fill an 18-wheeler to be delivered to Brad Sasser’s Trail Servant Ministry. Items needed the most are coats, warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, socks (all sizes), toboggans/warm hats, warm gloves, shovels, feminine products, work gloves, diapers and wipes, basic over the counter medicine/first aid, hygiene products, water, cleaning supplies, tents, self-inflatable air mattresses, batteries and foldable chairs.
