Calvary Hope Center Food Bank will be distributing food boxes for the Town of Clio on Saturday, April 9, and the Town of Blue Springs has scheduled its Food Distribution on Saturday, April 16, during which residents of the town can receive one box per residential address.
Barbour County commissioners denied a request to waive tipping fees on debris removal at the Bluff City Inn in Eufaula disposed in the county landfill at this month’s regular meeting held in Eufaula.
Deer crossing highways are the cause of many accidents in Barbour County such as was the case in the accident shown. This accident occurred recently on Highway 51 South near County Road 27 in Louisville. The female driver dodged a deer, lost control of the car and went up an embankment where the vehicle hit a few trees before coming back down. The driver was transported to Dale Medical Center in Ozark by Clayton Rescue Squad with non-life threatening injuries. Louisville police and Barbour County deputies also responded to the scene. Two inmates incarcerated at separate state prison facilities in Barbour County have recently been found unresponsive and pronounced dead by prison staff. Riley Henderson, a 25-year-old man serving at Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, died on February 5.

Drivers will notice a change in Alabama license plates beginning this month. The new 2022 Alabama standard license plate design replaces the mountain scene with a beach and the website www.alabama.travel along the bottom.

BARBOUR COUNTY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD MEETING The Barbour County Industrial Development Board will meet Tuesday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Barbour County Courthouse in Clayton.
Barbour County women, ages 15 to 55, have the opportunity to receive preventative health screening and management for chronic diseases due to a new program being offered at the Barbour County Health Department.
