The Barbour County High Jaguar boys basketball team fell to the Abbeville Yellow Jackets Monday night in the Class 2A Area 4 tournament finals at Abbeville 76-52.

The football game of the season will be played Sunday night, Super Bowl LIX, the football championship game of the National Football League. The game will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Risdon McCraney was recently named the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship winner at G.W. Long School in Skipperville. He is the son of Mikey and Diana Williams McCraney of the Asbury community, both natives of Clayton. The Bryant-Jordan Scholarship strives to promote individual growth in all student athletes. This scholarship program provides scholarships to students who, by sheer determination, have overcome obstacles to achieve a level of excellence. These student-athletes exemplify by their individual efforts, the dedication required to be the best they can be.
The Barbour County High Jaguars boys and girls teams got big wins Monday night at home against the G.W. Long Rebels in a Class 2A, Area 4 contest. The boys won 60-58, the girls 4542 and the JV lost 42-21.
The Barbour County High Jaguar boys varsity basketball team dropped all three of their games last week, losing Tuesday on the road to the G.W. Long Rebels 59-52 (in an area contest), at home Thursday against the Ariton Purple Cats 54-52 (in an area contest) and Saturday at rival Bullock County 55-41. The team is now 8-11 overall and 1-4 in Class 2A, Area 4. Against Long, Reaquan Hill led the team with 15 points, Javarius Peterson 14, Rurtyiaus Ross and Michael Blackmon Jr. 9 each, Quandarrion Brooks 3 and Marcell Bouyer 2. Preston Williams led the Rebels with 23 points.
Barbour County High School’s head football coach will be stepping down from the position at the end of this academic year.
The Barbour County High Jaguar boys varsity basketball team fell to 03 on the season dropping two games on the road last week. They fell to the Carroll High Eagles on Tuesday 92-33 and the Ashford Yellow Jackets on Friday 57-51.
The weather getting cooler, the leaves changing colors, the beginning of Christmas shopping, and of course Turkey and Dressing can only mean one thing in Alabama, it’s Iron Bowl time!
