The Barbour County High Lady Jaguars ended the basketball season with an 8-17 overall record and 4-2 in Class 1A Area 6, after not winning a game two years ago. The future looks bright because the team has no seniors.
Caroline Kelly and her horse, Hesa Dashin Dreamer, “Junior”, won the barrel racing competitions over the weekend in Odessa College, TX rodeo events. The Odessa rodeo is the first rodeo of the season in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Southwest Region.
It came down to the final buzzer in the tournament basketball game between the Eufaula High School Tigers and Park Crossing of Montgomery Monday night. The Tigers lost a heartbreaker by one point, 59- 58, knocking them out of the state tournament play as the final buzzer ended the game.
When basketball season begins, it is the dream of every team to make it to the Sweet 16. This has been a dream for the G.W. Long Rebels boys basketball team since the beginning of the season. Not only have they made it to the Sweet 16, they are one of the last eight teams remaining in Class 2A.
The Barbour County High Jaguars Varsity basketball team lost all three of their last regular season games falling to the Central-Hayneville Lions 95-44, the Pike County Bulldogs 74-57 and the Russell County Warriors 72-24.
Jamarian Lewis is shown signing a letter of commitment with Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. The Eufaula High School senior has played football for four years at EHS and has been a two-year starter at running back and even three games this last season as quarterback. His career statistics are 398 yards passing, four touchdowns, 2,013 yards rushing with 27 touchdowns, and 359 yards receiving with four touchdowns. His coach, Ed Rigby, said, “What Jamarian brings to the table is great size, speed and power. He has a tremendous work ethic and desire to play collegiately. Clayton native Caroline Kelly is leading the Tarleton State University’s rodeo team into barrel racing competitions when the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Southwest Region opens the 2022 season.
The Barbour County High Lady Jaguars basketball team fell on the road Monday night to the Talladega County Central Lady Tigers 56-52 in a Class 1A Sub-Regional contest. With the loss, the Lady Jaguars end the season at 8-17.
