School break has just begun for students, but Eufaula High School senior Sam Miller has been busy representing his school at conventions. He has just returned from attending Boys State in Troy and the 94th Alabama State FFA Convention in Montgomery.
Eufaula City Schools have hired Jerrel Jernigan as the Eufaula High School varsity head football coach. To honor his return to his alma mater in his new position, a “Meet and Greet” will be held Thursday, June 23 at 4 p.m. at the school’s Indoor Facility.
The Barbour County High Lady Jaguars basketball team traveled to Hoover last Thursday for a team basketball camp. They went 0-4 on the day playing against larger classification schools but gained some valuable experience.
Yhonzae Pierre, Eufaula High School football standout and Alabama defensive end commit, had an outstanding performance at the Nick Saban Football Camp held Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The 6’4” 225 edge rusher received offers from 17 schools before Pierre committed to the Crimson Tide in April.
Girls and boys, Kindergarten through 12th grade, have the opportunity to improve their basketball skills at Basketball Camp scheduled in Eufaula. The camp, led by The Lakeside School coaches Ricky Ward and Willie Burden, is open to students from all schools.
Several area baseball players were chosen by the 2022 Alabama Sports Writers Association for the 2022 Alabama High School Baseball positions from each Class. Others were honored by being selected as player, pitcher and hitter of the year in each classification.
The Wehle Land Conservation Center will be open this summer for camping, trails and fishing on the weekends of June 18 and July 16. Gate opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 4:00 p.m. for Open Trails and Fishing.
SIGNS CONTRACT -Kobie Stringer, a senior at G.W. Long, Skipperville, shown on the right, recently signed to play basketball for the Saints at Lurleen B. Wallace located in Andalusia. Stringer, a six-foot-two point guard for the Rebels, has been a member of the team for five years. He has helped the Rebels earn 33 wins and make two post season appearances. Stringer had 1,668 points total from his freshman through his senior year. He had 532 rebounds, 337 assists and he averaged 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Brant Brady of G.W. Long has been selected for the 2022 AHSAA North-South All-Star Sports Baseball Team, announced by Brandon Dean, Director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AH- SADCA).
The Barbour County High Jaguar varsity boys basketball team went 0-3 at the Lafayette High Bulldogs play date team camp Monday falling to the host team 50-45, the Notasulga Blue Devils 29-28 and the Pike Road Patriots 68-30.
