Jaguars begin soccer season

The Barbour County High Jaguar boys soccer team has started its second season with two games last week falling to Ariton 4-3 at home Thursday and to Northside Methodist 8-0 on the road Friday. Several players return from last year's team that went 0-3 and they have a new Head Coach Robin Tyra.

BCHS Jaguars end basketball season

The Barbour County High boys and girls basketball teams’ season came to an early end last week in the Class 2A, Area 3 Tournament. The boys fell 68 to 45 to the Abbeville Yellow Jackets on Friday in Ariton and the girls 43 to 38 to the Ariton Lady Purple Cats on Thursday in Abbeville. With the loss, the boys end the season at 4-21. Junior center Lennox Myers led the team with 16 points, Javarius Peterson, Chamarion Brown and Michael Blackmon Jr. all had 8 each and Quay Johnson and Rurtyiaus Ross 3 each. Cameron Petermon had 18 points, Dreshawn Bussey 14 and Ahmad Billins 12 to lead the Yellow Jackets. The girls ended the season at 10-14 with the loss. Junior center Anesia Eutsey led the team with 14 points before fouling out. Brackish Russell followed with 9, Tamia Peterson 7, ZyPrestiny Patterson 4, Enasia Ivory 3 and Meagan Steward 1. Macileigh Bragg had 14 points, Nya Allen 11 and Lizzy Woodfaulk 10 for Ariton.

Chiefs win games

Varsity Girls The Lakeside Varsity Lady Chiefs defeated Evangel Christian 52-11 in Eufaula on Thursday, January 11. Chloe Helms led Lakeside with 23 points, 4 steals and 3 assists.
