BCHS Jaguars soccer team drops two games

The Barbour County High Jaguar Soccer team dropped two games last week falling to the G.W. Long Rebels 8-1 on Monday on the road and to the Pike County Bulldogs 60 on Thursday at home. They are now 0-6 on the season and Pike County improved to 3-2. Adan Rojas scored the only goal for the Jaguars against Long They trailed the Bulldogs only 3-0 at the half but gave up three goals in the second half. Playing hard for the Jaguars were: Hector Solano, Zion Foster, Kevyn Galeote, Brayan Rojas, Christopher Rojas, Jose Rojas, Christopher Vazquez, Marcos Vazquez and Edgar Vivar. The Jaguars game at Pike County Thursday was postponed and they will host Houston Academy on Tuesday March 12.

AHSAA wraps up state basketball tournaments

The AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) State Basketball Tournament wrapped up this past weekend at the BJCC, Legacy Arena, in Birmingham, Alabama with 14 boys and girls champions being crowned in Class 1A-7A. The games started on Thursday with Class 1ASpring Garden 63 Marion County 31 (g) and Georgiana 55 Covenant Christian 44 (b). On Friday in Class 2A it was Ider 64 Mars Hill Bible 58 (g) and Mars Hill Bible 56 Highland Home 42 (b), Class 3A- Trinity Presbyterian 48 Plainview 40 (g) and Hillcrest-Evergreen 54 Midfield 28 (b), Class 4A- Good Hope 63 T.R. Miller 35 (g) and Jackson 56 American Christian 43 (b).

Basketball tournament underway

The AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) Basketball State Tournament started in Birmingham this week at one central location at the BJCC, Legacy Arena. Girls and boys teams from Class 1A-7A will try to bring home state championships February 26March 2.

WMA Youth Hunt – a great outdoors day

The 24th annual Barbour County Management Area Youth Hunt was held, Saturday, February 17th and 225+ youth had a great day and evening in the outdoor world. Hosted by the Eufaula Lions Club and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources-Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division, this hunt is one of the top youth hunting events held nationally.

Jaguar soccer team falls to Providence 11-0

The Barbour County High Jaguar Soccer team fell to the Providence Christian Eagles 11-0 last Friday at home and are now 0-3 on the season. Kevyn Galeote, Brayan Rojas, Adan Rojas, Jose Rojas, Marcos Montealegre, Edgar Rodriguez-Vivar, Christopher Vazquez, Christopher Rojas, Hector Solano-Flores, Rurtyiaus Ross and Lakeithian Fuller have all played well this year.
