The Barbour County High Jaguar boys basketball team participated in the Quitman County Hornets summer team camp going 2-1. They defeated the Webster County (Ga.) Bobcats 65-16 in game one and the Stewart County (Ga.) Knights 5827 in game two, but lost to the Kendrick (Ga.) Cherokees 68-48 in their final game. They did not get to play host Quitman County.
Two Lakeside students were recently named to the First-Team All State Sports Writers baseball team for the year 2024. Colton Sampson was named as a pitcher for the team and Taylor Morrow was selected as a Utility player for the ASIA team.
On May 10, 2024, Hollis Strawbridge, Fayette, AL, officially signed to play football at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN.. Strawbridge is the recipient of the Ralph C.
Two young men from Barbour County will be taking there roping skills to the National High School Rodeo finals. The finals will be held in Rock Springs, WY the week of July 14 through July 20th.
Barbour County High School incoming freshman Tiana Boykins recently attended ASU Freda Freeman Jackson's 2024 D1 Basketball Camp. The Camp was a four-day camp that featured individual and team instruction on Fundamentals such as shooting, dribbling, passing rebounding and defense. She is shown in the picture while attending camp.
The combined travel basketball team made up of players from Barbour County High School in Clayton and Eufaula High School, the Stylez Elite team, were named YBOA Tournament Champions in the hardwood classic travel ball tournament held May 25-26. The final score was 58-45.
Seven individuals who have made an impact as exemplary role models in their schools and communities have been selected as the 2024 Making a Difference Award recipients by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association (AHSADCA).
The Barbour County High Jaguars will remain in Class 2A after the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) did its classification alignment for the 2024-2026 years which is done every two years. They will have new region opponents in football but remain the same in basketball and volleyball.
It’s a second consecutive state championship in the Class 2A Division that the Ariton Purple Cats have achieved. They made school history with the consecutive championship title when they defeated Mars Hill Bible to win the title.
