A gospel stage play, “Born to Be Free” will be held at 5pm, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Clayton Community Center, 2827 Highway 30, Clayton, AL. Written and directed by Barbour County native Anne Rumph Carter, the play celebrates the rich and powerful history of Black people from their African roots to modernday America.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about gardening during their lunch hour at a workshop in Eufaula beginning in March. The workshops, “Lunch & Learn” will be held at the Eufaula Carnegie Library from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
Members of the Leadership Barbour Class XVII had their Economic Development Day on Thursday, January 11, hosted by Alabama Power. Jason Davis, Vice President of Alabama Power Southeast Division, greeted the group followed by Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs who gave the class an update on the city.
A Breast Awareness event was held Saturday, October 21, at the Forgiven Event Center in Clayton. The event was presented by the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB & Troy Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation along with Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department will hold a C.A.S.T. for Kids event on Lake Eufaula in Eufaula at Old Creek Town Park, 1198 Lake Drive on October 5 from 9am to 12 pm CST.
A fund to prevent overcrowding in animal shelters and the euthanasia of healthy pets is being created by the Southern Souls Animal League in Barbour County. Anna Shepard, director of Southern Soul’s, states the fund will be used for spaying and neutering unwanted cats and dogs.
