Attorney General’s race will be a good one in 2026
Folks, 2026 is shaping up as one of the best political years in memory in Alabama. The attorney general’s position is a powerful job in Alabama government, and it appears to be attracting several competent competitors The Governor’s, Lt. Governor’s, and Attorney General’s offices and maybe one of our U.S.
No time for complacency
As we often contemplate ways that we can improve our quality of life and opportunities for citizens in all of the communities in Barbour County, we come up with a few ideas. However, the result of turning these ideas into accomplishments we know it takes a united community. It takes people focused on an effort to bring people of all walks of life together.
The Spider and ‘the Fry’
When I was a little kid, dares were in high fashion. My brothers and I would dare each other to do anything. Looking back on our antics, when I am now forty years old, I can see exactly how funny, ridiculous and dangerous our many, varied 'dares' were. I can now also see that, unlike I previously thought long ago, that my brothers and I had plenty of good, common sense. Our senses, however, seemed to take leave of us the hot second somebody said they would 'double-dog-dare us to do it!' At that point, our honor was challenged. And all bets were off.

Church Membership
I have been attending a church in the area for about 1 year. I enjoy the worship service and the people of the congregation have really made me feel welcome. Some of them have encouraged me to join the church and become a member. I was a member of a church a long time ago, but never really stayed involved. I have often been suspicious of the “organized” church because of some of the hypocrisy and some of the things I have seen going on. I always believed I could be a good person and not have to be a member of the church. However, I really do like where I am even if I am still not sure about membership. What advice can you give me?
