Inmates within the walls of state prison facilities went on strike Monday to protest treatment within the facilities and for reforms to be made to the state sentencing and parole laws. Barbour County has two state prison facilities, Ventress in Clayton and Easterling in Clio.
Barbour County commissioners passed the county’s Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget during a special called meeting held last week with no discussion of line items. The budget includes a 10% raise for anyone working for the county effective September 30, the end of this fiscal year.
