HSBC seeks help with shelter operations

Kudzu: the exasperating vine with surprising uses

Healthcare access was missing from Gov. Ivey’s speech
There was a gap in Gov. Kay Ivey’s “state of the state” speech on Tuesday. A lifelong gap, in fact. Maybe you noticed it. It fell in between the time Ivey spoke of how proud she is of Alabama’s total abortion ban – an abomination that nearly 90 percent of the state disagrees with – and when she spoke of future generations just before wrapping up.
Inmates striking in state prisons
Inmates within the walls of state prison facilities went on strike Monday to protest treatment within the facilities and for reforms to be made to the state sentencing and parole laws. Barbour County has two state prison facilities, Ventress in Clayton and Easterling in Clio.
County budget includes 10% raise
Barbour County commissioners passed the county’s Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget during a special called meeting held last week with no discussion of line items. The budget includes a 10% raise for anyone working for the county effective September 30, the end of this fiscal year.
