LARRY DAVID BRANNING
Larry David Branning, of Eufaula, Alabama, beloved husband, father and “Poppy,” passed away on February 3, 2022. Born September 4, 1946, he was the son of the late J.V. and Goldie Sexton Branning. Known fondly as “Peanut” from childhood, he was raised in Round Lake, Florida and graduated from Cottondale High School and Auburn University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career at Alabama Power Company began during college and lasted until 2010, when Larry retired after 43 years. Larry was a man of great faith and compassion, demonstrated by his involvement at First Baptist Church of Eufaula, where he served as a deacon, and by his faithful service to The Gideons International ministry for 28 years. While many knew Larry to be a gentle and godly man, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and kept his family and friends laughing, often gathered around a meal. Larry deeply loved his family and leaves behind his dedicated partner in all things – his wife of 51 years – Betty Pippin Branning, his son David Branning of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his daughter Nancy Branning Allen (Dixon) of Nashville, Tennessee, his granddaughter Frances Allen, his brother Ray Branning of Crestview, Florida, his sister Betty Lu Kight (W.R.) of Macon, Georgia, and sister-in-law Wilma Shores of Wewahitchka, Florida.
