City officials met Tuesday to certify municipal election results from the August 26 election. The official results were released with the exception of Clio where there was not a quorum to meet to conduct the business.
Eufaula High School head football coach Jerrel Jernigan will serve as the South All-Star head coach for the upcoming 66th AHSAA North-South All-Star Football Game. The game is scheduled for Friday night, December 12 at Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs, Jr. is facing a run-off election with Chris Beam for the mayor’s seat in unofficial election results reported Tuesday night. Only a 76-vote margin separated the two candidates.
The Barbour County Focus Initiative Youth Leadership group recently embarked on an inspiring educational trip to Washington, D.C., fully funded by the initiative as part of its outreach to young adults pursuing higher education and career opportunities. During their visit, the group toured iconic landmarks including the White House and the U.S. Capitol, gaining firsthand insight into the nation's political heart.
Frances Shipman, chairperson of the Barbour County Commission, gave an update on repairs to the courtroom that are in the process of being made at the Barbour County Courthouse in Clayton during the regular scheduled meeting held last Tuesday, August 12. The 9:00 a.m. meeting was held at the Eufaula courthouse.
Voting places will be open Tuesday in various locations throughout the county for municipal elections. Polls will open at 7:00 in the morning and will close at 7:00 p.m.
Congratulations are in order for the long history and numerous accomplishments made by the membership of one of Clayton’s oldest churches. The historic Jones Chapel AME Church has been added to the distinguished list of properties included in the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
