Saturday is the first day of fall. The cooler temperatures, lower humidity and some rain have been welcoming. A sure sign of fall is evident when the Spider Lilies begin to bloom and they are beginning to show up spontaneously. ****** It’s also time for farmers to harvest crops for the season. Some have reported corn and cotton are being picked and soon we will have the fresh smell of peanuts being turned. Reports also indicate that this year’s crops are good.

Commission approves SARCOA contract

A new contract gained Barbour County commissioners’ approval with SARCOA (Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging) for the Clayton Senior Center. The contract with SARCOA which provides food vendor services to senior centers was unanimously approved at last week’s meeting of the commission held in Clayton.
