Column One Comment
One of the largest crowds attended festivities Friday for Barbour County High School’s homecoming. It was great to see the number of entries in the parade, attend a wonderful reception sponsored by the Alumni Association at the Octagon House, and supporters who attended the football game. All went off smoothly and everything was a wonderful experience for all who participated. We congratulate all who had a part in making this a memorable and successful homecoming event.

Celebration of 95 Years
It was a joyous occasion when members of Evergreen Baptist Church honored their oldest and dearest member, Mrs. Vela Mae Green, of Clayton on her 95th birthday. They formed a caravan of decorated vehicles and proceeded to her home at Lazy Acres Subdivision to celebrate this special occasion. They said she is the epitome of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 stating, “What a wonderful example she sets for her church! She loves deep, is always happy, and never fails to extend an encouraging word. What a blessing she is to all!” Shown celebrating with the honoree are Mike and Merilyn McCraney, Josh Powell, pastor, Kim and Greg Green, Gana Thomas, Amy and Lamar Boswell, Candy Finlayson, Rosalyn Hatfield, and Cathy and Dick Martin.
