BCHS JROTC plans fundraising event
The Barbour County High School JROTC unit is trying to raise money to assist with their annual ball, staff ride aka (field trip), parades and competitions. They will also plan to host a Fall/Halloween Festival as well this month.
Clayton Fire & Rescue Chief Gulledge requests proper station
Clayton Fire and Rescue Chief Paul Gulledge gave a report to the Clayton City Council on the condition of the Fire and Rescue Squad Monday night at the regular scheduled meeting of the council. The meeting was held last week at city hall.

Barbour County queens ready for pageant
Miss Barbour County Anslee Sawyer and Little Miss Barbour County Rylee Horne were honored last Monday evening, October 2 with a send-off party held at Trustmark Bank in Eufaula. Friends and family stopped by to wish the girls “Good Luck” before they head off to compete in their respective National Peanut Festival Pageants at the Dothan Civic Center.

A Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Clio’s brandnew health clinic, Clio Health Clinic, LLC, will be held Thursday afternoon, October 12, at 5:30 p.m. The clinic is housed in the former Barbour County Health Department located at 1203 Blue Springs Street in downtown Clio.
Man arrested in Clio after chase
A high speed chase ended in downtown Clio early Sunday morning when a suspected thief rammed into the side of a building. According to Clio policeman, Captain Rickey Kennedy, the vehicle crashed into the side of the Calvary Hope Center building, formerly Clio Drug Store, located on Highway 10 and Robinson Street.
Auburn man killed in accident in Eufaula
Social media posts immediately notified readers that a motorcycle rider was down in Eufaula Thursday afternoon. The devastating news quickly spread that there had been a horrific accident on U.S. Highway 431 at the Paul Lee Parkway intersection.
Commissioners award elevator contract
Barbour County commissioners awarded a contract to repair the elevator in the county courthouse in Clayton last week but now they face additional immediate problems resulting from water leaks in several offices. The leaks were discovered when some employees found their offices flooded Monday morning.
