Several opportunities are planned in Barbour County for the public to observe Veterans Day. One person is dead after a 50-mile chase that began in Eufaula on Highway 431 South when Eufaula police officers spotted a vehicle believed to be stolen. Henry County deputies shot the person according to Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship.

Without knowing what they were facing, emergency personnel and law enforcement officers were dispatched to a pond on Highway 239 near Clayton Monday afternoon concerning a vehicle floating in a pond. A motorist noticed the vehicle in the pond after observing tire tracks and reported it to 911.
A bizarre multi-vehicle crash in Pike County Tuesday, October 31 involved a Clayton man and the son and daughter-inlaw of Assistant Clayton Police Chief Edward Hardy. Edward Olanda Hardy, II, 22, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and his wife, Chloe Nichol Hardy, 19, who was driving, were killed in the crash that involved multiple vehicles.
A program on Heart Health, presented by the Barbour County Branch 5075 of the NAACP, will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at the Eufaula Carnegie Library. The library is located at 217 N. Eufaula Avenue. This free presentation, open to the public, will begin at 5:00 p.m.
