BCSO officers promoted

Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith recently held promotional ceremonies for nine officers with the department. Sheriff Smith said, “We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that these officers have shown each and every day.” He explained that the promotion process started in September and ended in November of this year.

Sweet Potato Cookies

1 cup brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup cooked, mashed sweet potatoes 2 eggs 1/2 cup butter, melted 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup chopped nuts Heat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, mix sugars, baking soda and flour.

Leadership Barbour Class XVII visits Walter F. George Dam

Leadership Barbour Class XVII visited the Walter F. George Dam on Lake Eufaula on December 7. The class began in Eufaula at the Chamber of Commerce where Phil Clayton, Eufaula/ Barbour Chamber of Commerce Economic Developer, spoke with them about the acquisition of monies to make repairs to the dam and locks and its importance to industrial development in our county.
