The Lakeside School in Eufaula officially learned their region status in football for the upcoming two years and their assignment in other sports recently when AISA released their reclassifications. After losing four institutions to the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), the Independent Schools Association (AISA) combined the existing schools plus two new members in football into two classifications in football (AA and AAA), leaving Class A as 8-man football.

Ashleigh McKee of Eufaula recently received a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Alabama. UA awarded over 2,000 degrees during its fall commencement ceremonies.

A list of qualified voters in Barbour County is published in this week’s edition of The Clayton Record The list which is published in its entirety for all voters registered in the county as of January 29. Anyone who registers to vote after that date will be included in a supplemental list that will be published in The Record on February 27.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a single engine plane crash at the Eufaula airport that was fatal to the pilot. Preliminary reports state that the aircraft, a 1958 Piper Comanche PA-24, crashed off the end of the runway for unknown reasons.
