Private schools receive reclassifications

The Lakeside School in Eufaula officially learned their region status in football for the upcoming two years and their assignment in other sports recently when AISA released their reclassifications. After losing four institutions to the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), the Independent Schools Association (AISA) combined the existing schools plus two new members in football into two classifications in football (AA and AAA), leaving Class A as 8-man football.

Man arrested after chase

A Columbus, GA man was arrested Tuesday, January 30, in Eufaula after sending authorities on a three-hour manhunt following a high-speed chase. Michael Tavaris Rumph, 28, has been charged with fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.
