The University of Alabama National Alumni Association celebrated the endowment of the Mary Clayton Dixon Memorial Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Barbour Chapter of the NAA to support future UA students.
Barbour County Commissioners met in a special called meeting Monday to pass an operating budget for the 20252026 fiscal year.
Robert Bennett IV, a resident of Eufaula,, made the Summer 2025 Academic Achievement List at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA and was among 607 students recognized for scholastic achievement.
Mayoral candidates discuss campaigns

Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs and Chris Beam are in a run-off election Tuesday for the mayor’s position.

Mayor Kathy Thomas and Mayor Protem Alex Moses are in a run-off to serve as mayor of Clayton. Questionnaires were sent to both candidates for an interview to be included in this week’s edition of The Record to give them the opportunity to address voters on their platforms.

Eufaula Main Street Director Ann Sparks returned from the annual conference with an Award of Excellence trophy. The annual threeday Main Street Alabama conference held this year in Jasper provides downtown revitalization professionals with opportunities to network and learn from experts in technology, economic development, community identity and branding, and how to build a future-focused plan for their organizations and communities.
The Barbour County School District has a budget for the next fiscal year after holding budget hearings. Final approval was granted by members of the School Board during Monday night’s regular board meeting.
