Locals brace for subfreezing temperatures
Barbour County residents woke up Monday morning to cold, windy weather with the temperature continuing to drop throughout the day. The extremely cold wind chill factors made the day even more miserable. The temperatures dipped into freezing numbers during the nights causing residents to scurry to get prepared for the freezing weather.
Several state lakes reopen while Barbour County lake remains closed for repairs
Barbour County’s State Lake remains closed while most of the state’s 23 state-owned Public Fishing Lakes will return to regular operational house on Saturday, February 1.
BCHS basketball teams suffer losses
The Barbour County High Jaguar Varsity boys basketball team dropped two games both on the road at the BTW Golden Eagles 67-51 and to the Charles Henderson Trojans 69-35. Following the losses, the Jaguars were 5-6 on the season snapping a five game winning streak. BTW beat the Jaguars by 50 points (7929) in the first game of the season.
DUIs land men in county jail
Driving intoxicated landed two men in the Barbour County jail in separate incidents by county deputies, according to reports released.
