Barbour County High School (BCHS) has been participating in Homecoming activities this week in anticipation for the presentation of the Homecoming Royal Court at 6:00 Friday night, October 3. The ceremony will be held prior to the game at 7:00 when the Jaguars play the Goshen Eagles.
The Alabama Independent School Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024-2025 AISA Blue Ribbon School Award.
Eufaula High School will celebrate homecoming Friday night, October 3. This week is filled with activities and events. Members of the Homecoming Court are Cooper Wingate and Mallory White, Mr. and Miss EHS; Allie Helms, Sahdia Wright, Kiki Palmer, 12th grade; Chloe Cantley and Kamari Jones, 11th grade; Adrianna Grubbs and Janiyah Thomas, 10th grade; Ra’Nauja Mahone and Conleigh Sawyer, 9th grade. The court will be presented Friday night when Eufaula plays Greenville. Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
Barbour County has been included among the 14 contiguous disaster counties which allows farmers to be eligible for federal disaster assistance. The designation is a result of water drenched fields in May and June that prevented farmers from planting crops during that critical time frame.
Municipal election results were canvassed and certified by councils in Clayton and Eufaula Tuesday. Run-off elections were held in the two municipalities last Tuesday with unofficial results reported in last week’s edition of The Record.
Two state legislators, Sen. Billy Beasley of Clayton and Rep. Ed Oliver of Dadeville, were presented awards from the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics on September 13. The 2025 Graham L. Champion Legislative Hero Awards were presented during a ceremony held at Ross Bridge Resort in Birmingham.
Mitzi Ketchum Clayton, Barbour County Extension Agent Director, completed the Government & Economic Development Institute (GEDI) at Auburn University’s Intensive Economic Development Training Course. The course was held September 8-11 at The Dixon Conference Center at Auburn University.
Two businesses in Clio were broken into early Sunday morning , according to Captain Ricky Kennedy with the Clio Police Department.
Clayton Mayor Kathy Thomas and Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs won re-election in Tuesday’s municipal run-off elections.
