Clayton councilman arrested and released

Clayton Councilman Richard Don Pearison was arrested last week on charges of Harassing Communications, according to Jamie Ming, investigator with the Clayton Police Department. According to the incident/offense report released by the Clayton Police Department, Councilman Pearison was arrested at the Clayton Police Department on January 24 on the charge of Harassing Communications without incident. He was transported to the Barbour County Jail in Clayton where he was booked and processed. He soon posted bond and was released. The report states that the offense took place at 583 John C. Martin Road in Clayton but did not name who filed the charges against Pearison. Neither did the report give any details as to what brought the charges against the councilman.

Dogs rescued after reports of animal cruelty

Two dogs were rescued by Animal Control from Benefield Road in Barbour County on January 11th after being abused Barbour County Animal Control Officer Scott Drivas, Atlanta Pet Rescue, Game and Fish Wardens Greene and Woods along with Barbour County Deputies SSG Robinson and SSG Green responded to Benefield Road, Lot 3, after receiving complaints about a Malinois having burn marks and a Blue Pitbull having its ears cut without proper tools or sedation William Benefield admitted he had cut the Pitbull’s ears with a razor knife. The dog was inspected by Officer Drivas and found to be cut and not stitched.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Snow with accumulations of two to three inches with isolated higher amounts in Barbour County moved in Tuesday lasting into early Wednesday. Winter Storm Enzo was declared as historic it affected areas rarely having accumulations of snow from the southern portions of Texas through southern Alabama and the Florida beaches forcing people to make preparations for the severe weather conditions.
