Committee to assess courtroom
A committee appointed at last week’s meeting of the Barbour County Commission is scheduled to assess the feasibility of reopening the courtroom at the county courthouse in Clayton.

Large contraband bust made at Ventress & Easterling Correctional Facilities

A Georgetown, GA man was arrested on Tuesday morning, February 18, according to the Eufaula Police Department for his alleged involvement in several events on Country Club Road and Fox Ridge Road in Eufaula.

Suspect identified in Union Springs fire
A suspect has been identified for his connection to a massive fire that completely destroyed two businesses in Union Springs early Saturday morning. Union Springs police are searching for the suspect who is believed to have started the fire as Tommie Cortez Holmes. Devastation of the fire that was believed to have been started about 4:00 in the morning quickly consumed the roof of the buildings and threatened adjoining buildings on Prairie Street in downtown Union Springs.
