Council approves funding source for ambulance

Financing for a new ambulance for Clayton were finalized during a special called meeting of the council Tuesday morning. The ambulance is expected to arrive later this month. The council voted in a previous meeting to purchase the ambulance at a cost of $220,822 to be financed at MidSouth Bank. At that time, the Rescue Squad had collateral in the account for the loan to be approved. However, when the time came to acquire the loan, funds were not available in the account to secure the loan. A down payment of $70,000 had already been paid toward the ambulance purchase.

ALL-STATE TEXTBOOK COMMITTEE

Two Eufaula City School System teachers have been selected to serve on the Alabama State Department of Education’s State Textbook Committee. Victoria Smith, Eufaula Elementary School art teacher, and Katie Beth Lewey, Eufaula Primary School music teacher, will play a key role in selecting curriculum and supplemental materials to be adopted for all schools in the state.

Lakeside student’s poster places

Savannah Salter, who is a first grade student at The Lakeside School, is a winner with her poster she drew and entered in the Alabama Farm-City Kindergarten through third grade contest. She won second place in the division earning her and other winners $100 from the Alabama Ag in the Classroom for their poster. Posters showcased the theme of “Our Community Counts on Farmers.”
