75 YEARS AGO JANUARY 23, 1948 A committee from the Barbour County Board of Revenue met in Clayton last Thursday and let a contract for the erection of a new county jail and the installation of steam heating in the Clayton Court House. The contract was let to Cooper Brothers Contractors of Selma for the sum of $77,500, they being the lowest bidder.

75 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 24,1947 The Barbour County FFA met Wednesday night, October 1, at Louisville for the purpose of organizing and electing officers. The district is made up of delegates from Clayton, Clio, Louisville and Blue Springs. Officers elected are Clarence Milldrum, president, of Clayton, Clarie Davidson, vicepresident of Louisville, Chris Green of Clio, secretary, Clyde McRae of Clio, treasurer, and Earl Morrison of Blue Springs, reporter. The Clayton Tigers had a big win over the Louisville Red Devils Friday night, October 17 before a capacity crowd at the local athletic field, by a score of 33 to 12.

The new members are Ellis Ray Carr, Willie Clyde Carr, Eugene Casey, Bennie Earl Norton, Ladon Phillips, Paul Sconyers, M.L. Sconyers, Eldridge Scott, John Segers, Jack Teal, J.W. Teal, Gerald Westbrook and Jimmy Byrd. The chapter now has a total of 39 members.
