BLONDHEIM Leadership Barbour Class XVII held its Medical Services Day on Thursday, February 15, hosted by Medical Center Barbour. They were greeted by Sonya Bedsole Degler, Accounting Director, and Cathy Hodge, Risk Management Director.

TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPION
TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPION -Colt Reeder’s dog “Jeb” will be competing for the National Title in March. Jeb’s accomplishments include winning the 2023 Alabama Dog of the Year, Tree Cur of the Year, Georgia State Champion and Alabama Reserve State Champion and finished out to NSD Grand Squirrel Champion. Drifter, Colt’s other dog, finished 2nd at the Alabama State Hunt. Colt is the son of Tony and Pam Reeder of Elamville.
Anthony Sanyaolu earns BS degree at Jacksonville State
Anthony Sanyaolu of Eufaula earned a BS in Exercise/Wellness at Jacksonville State University’s Fall 2023 commencement on December 15. More than 500 students received their undergraduate and graduate degrees as part of the commencement. Jacksonville State was founded in 1883 as a state teachers college and has grown into the Alabama regional university with the highest percentage of accredited programs. Located in the Appalachian foothills between Birmingham and Atlanta, Jacksonville State University offers more than 150 courses of study including over 40 online programs, at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Charles Kelly joins coaching staff at AU
The new co-defensive coordinator at Auburn University, Charles Kelly, has ties to Barbour County. His father, Lavon Kelly, is a native of Barbour County and the son of the late Ralph and Maudie Belle Kelly of Clio.

Joshua Teasley graduates from UAB with honors
Joshua Teasley, son of Dr. and Mrs. Larry Teasley of Clayton, graduated from UAB during its Fall Commencement on December 8, 2023, with the academic honors of Magna Cum Laude and a double major in history and philosophy.
Fins, Feathers & Flowers event at Lakepoint scheduled for Feb. 16-18
The 2024 Fins, Feathers and Flowers event at Lakepoint Resort State Park is scheduled for February 16-18. This event offers a variety of conservation- themed activities for all ages. The park is located at 104 Lakepoint Dr., in Eufaula, Alabama. “We are excited to offer a few new experiences during this year’s Fins, Feathers and Flowers event,” said O’Dell Banks, Lakepoint Superintendent. “In addition to a variety of guided field trips and wildlife watching opportunities, a nature- themed watercolor class and plant walk have been added to the list of activities. Our new Discovery Trail has opened as well. The 3.1-mile trail features interpretive signs that highlight the wide variety of birds and wildlife found throughout the park. We invite anyone who is interested in the outdoors to attend the event and experience these new additions to Lakepoint.” The weekend begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 16, with a conservation fair, evening social and welcome session. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from various conservation groups throughout the state as well as Alabama State Parks naturalists, park rangers and animal ambassadors. The evening’s featured speaker is Fred Bassett, a master bird bander, who will present a program about hummingbirds in the Southeast. The evening will conclude with a guided 1mile night hike on Lakepoint’s Discovery Trail.
