Jones Chapel AME to host the Lay Organization’s Annual Service

Jones Chapel AME Church will host the Dothan-Eufaula District Lay Organization’s Annual Day Service. The service will be held Sunday, May 19th at 3:00 pm. Speakers will feature seven lay speakers from across the Dothan-Eufaula District to include Joyce Thomas, District Lay President (Clopton Circuit), Antonia Turner (Mt Zion -Eufaula), Linda Simpson (Parks Chapel Dothan), Mary Person (Saint John - Eufaula), Dorothy Sconiers-Bevel (St. Paul - Sconiersville), Evadna Kincey-Moment (St. Paul - Sconiersville), Beverly Smith (Jones Chapel - Clayton) and Glenda Skipper - (Saint Luke - Eufaula).

Celebrating 95 Years

HONORED ON 95TH BIRTHDAY - Mrs. Dorothy Anne Lockwood of Eufaula was honored on her 95th birthday at a family luncheon held at the Eufaula Country Club on Saturday, April 27. Hosts for the occasion were her daughter, LuAnne, and her husband, Charlie, of Eufaula and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Lockwood of Birmingham. All four of her grandchildren, Bobby Lockwood of Boise, Idaho, Jay Lockwood and his wife, Lori, of Atlanta, GA, Will Hart and his wife, Brooke of Nashville, TN and Rebecca Hart Harris and her husband, David, of Birmingham, were in attendance. In addition, six of her seven great grandchildren attended to include Gemma Lockwood, Roman Lockwood, Madelyn Lockwood, Paige Lockwood, Dorothy Anne Harris, and David Harris. Mrs. Lockwood’s day was made extra special with a resolution from Sen. Billy Beasley which commemorated her life and service as well as Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs’ resolution declaring April 28, 2024 as Dorothy Anne Lockwood Day. Family members who gathered for the birthday celebration enjoyed sharing fond memories and stories.

Happy 90th Birthday

CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY - Jackie Snead, center, aka “Miss Jackie, Mama Jack, Aunt Jack,” was greeted by family and friends at the Dime Store in Clayton last Thursday, May 2, to celebrate her 90th birthday. Mrs. Snead said she was glad to be at home. She resides in Auburn with her daughter Patty, left, (Kenneth) Chance and her son, Tom, right, (Sara) Snead.
