Buster Padgett, Eufaula High School Agriscience Teacher and FFA Advisor, was honored recently by being named as one of the 2024 inductees into the Alabama FFA’s Wall of Honor. The Alabama FFA Foundation Wall of Honor Luncheon was held on Wednesday, June 5 at the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association in Montgomery. Mr. Padgett was nominated for the honor by Ms. Amanda Teixeira, Eufaula High School Agriscience Teacher and FFA Co-Advisor of the Eufaula FFA. The FFA Wall of Honor is designed to recognize individuals who have provided support and outstanding service to Alabama FFA and agriculture and is maintained by the Alabama FFA Foundation.
AWARD - 2nd Lt. Jessica Stephenson was awarded “Top Graduate” on June 4 at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, while taking a Logistics Readiness Officer course. She was recognized for her superior academic achievement and high standards of leadership, teamwork and character. She is the daughter of Mark and Nancy Stephenson of Prattville. She is the granddaughter of the late Shug and Mable Rowland and the niece of Shug and Bo Rowland of Clayton, and Johnny and Shirley Adams of Union Springs. She’s currently stationed at Charleston AFB, SC.

The late Ben Rish Spurlock, Jr., a Eufaula native who was retired banker and civic leader in Eufaula, has been posthumously recognized with a resolution from the Commercial Club of Eufaula. A copy of the resolution was recently presented to his wife, Betty.
Troy University is pleased to announce students who have been named to the Chancellor's List for the spring semester and Term 4 of the 2023-2024 academic year. Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0 qualify for the Chancellor's List. The spring semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 4 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.
The 57th Blue Springs School Reunion was held May 18th at Blue Springs State Park. With bad weather and rain Friday night and Saturday morning, about 30 people showed up.
The First Baptist Church of Midway is pleased to announce their new pastor, Reverend Sammie Nelson of Louisville, Alabama. The son of the late James and Velma Walker, Reverend Nelson grew up in Barbour County where he attended Louisville High School. After high school, he was later employed by Dixon Lumber Company of Eufaula, Alabama from which he retired as a supervisor after forty years of service. He currently works in the shipping department at Tyson Foods in Baker Hill, Alabama.
