National Day of Prayer observed in Clio

The Clio council meeting room was the location for the service to observe the National Day of Prayer, again this year. At 12:00 noon, Thursday, May 5, community representatives came together for an inspirational observance of the acclaimed day. The Reverend Randy Adams, pastor of Calvary Assembly of God, and the Reverend Danny Rieben, pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, were the major leaders of this year’s program.

Seeds and stories grow in our garden

My six-year-old daughter stood barefoot in the newly plowed garden plot, digging her toes into the soft black soil. She held three small brown beans in her hand as she eyed the freshly turned furrow at her feet. A look of utmost concentration on her brow, Rebekah was deciding on the exact spot to plant them and I was reminded of Jack and his fabled Beanstalk.

Celebrates Birthday

“Miss Jackie” Snead of Clayton and Auburn is pictured with her birthday cake, flowers and an oil painting that her great granddaughter, Caroline Cole, painted of her house in Clayton. She was feted with a surprise luncheon by friends and family at the Dime Store Restaurant in Clayton on Monday, May 2. She celebrated her 88th birthday on that day.

EUFAULA PARKS & RECREATION ACTION MARINE KIDS’ FISHING RODEO The Eufaula Parks& Recreation Department will host the Action Marine Kid’s Fishing Rodeo at Old Creek Town Park on July 19th. The goal is to support area youth, including those with special needs, with gifts of fun, fishing and a sense of community.
