Barbour County 4-H Forestry Team competes at state level
Can you properly identify over 60 tree types? Or estimate how many 16-foot boards could come from a standing tree? The youth you see pictured have learned to do that plus so much more! They represented Barbour County’s as the first ever 4-H Forestry Team and competed at the state level at Oak Mountain State Park. These youth have been meeting since January for classroom and on site in the woods training, learning about tree identification and measurement, compass traverse, insect and disease identification, topographic maps, and forest evaluation.
