Anna Elizabeth (Annie) Wingate, a graduating senior at Eufaula High School, has been named one of more than 5,000 candidates in the 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2023.
Eufaula Carnegie Library will host musicians Dillon and Erica King in a free concert on Thursday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m. The Kings are natives of Georgia and alumni of Columbia State University, Schwob School of Music.

The winter board meeting is held every January to give members a chance to make new friends and renew old friendships and to be informed of the new changes in the offices and requirements of each division officer’s responsibility.
Wallace Community College, Dothan, has released the names of students on the President's List. In order to be on the President’s List a student must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of college level coursework with a grade point average of 4.0.
Hess Horne of Clayton is among the more than 5,000 students named to the fall 2022 dean’s list at Missouri State University. Each semester students at Missouri State University who attain academic excellence are named to the dean’s list. For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the fall semester and at least a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.00 scale.
Members of Leadership Barbour Class XVI held their Economic Development Day on January 12 sponsored by Alabama Power. The class spent the morning at Alabama Power visiting with various state and local agencies involved in economic development for our area.

Members of the Barbour County Board of Education approved three personnel actions 4-1 at Monday night’s regular board meeting. The single employment approved was Sandra Sellers as a teacher at BCIS.
The Barbour County Extension Office is making plans for the first Ag Olympics to be held March 23 at the Yoholo Mico Walking Trail in Eufaula. Teams of four will compete in fun farm chores and prizes will be given to the top teams in each age division.
