Sunday, May 21, was recognized as No Menthol Sunday, according to Jeanette Anglin, Barbour County Coordinator for Community Outreach and Engagement with the O’Neal Cancer Center at UAB. According to the O’Neal Cancer Center, it is important for an individual to lower their risk of cancer and other chronic diseases by being tobacco free every day.

This spring, 136 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program during the spring 2023 semester.

Calvary Assembly of God Church to hold ‘Honor Our Heroes Day’
Pastor Randy Adams and the congregation at Calvary Assembly of God Church invites everyone to join them on Sunday, May 28 at 10:30 AM for their annual “Honor Our Heroes Day.” During the morning service they will have a special memorial time remembering the Fire and Rescue, Medical Professionals, Educators, Police, and Military personnel who have given their lives during their service. Calvary Church is located four miles south of Clio on County Road 8 off County Road 15.

Students invited to design logo for Pea River Electric
Students in grades K-12 have an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship and a Nintendo Switch by designing a logo for Pea River Electric. The contest is open to students in Barbour, Dale and Henry counties.
