Hannah Killingsworth will be graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in August. She is the daughter of Ken and Tina Killingsworth and the granddaughter of Thomas and Elaine Killingsworth, Mary Benefield, and the late Rickey Benefield, all of Clayton.
The University of Alabama awarded 5,907 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies on May 6-8. Megan Fleming and Emily Jackson, both of Eufaula, received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
WOFFORD COLLEGE Sealy Ann Smith has been named to the spring 2022 Dean's List. Smith is from Eufaula.
An extensive Summer Learning Program will be offered to students in the Eufaula City School System this summer. The program is designed to meet all students’ needs in an effort to combat the learning that was lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Casey’s and Mrs. Smith’s classes at Barbour County Primary School recently celebrated Earth Day. The classes studied ways to protect the earth to include saving water (taking shorter showers, turning off the water after brushing your teeth), planting trees, turning the lights off when you leave the room/house, 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle), walking/riding a bike when traveling short distances, turning off TV when not in use, and picking up trash outside. Students also colored an Earth Day picture as well as made Earth Day crowns.

The Barbour County School System will begin offering an after school tutoring program beginning March 1. Students will have the opportunity to take advantage of the program from 3:30 until 5:00 p.m.
Auburn University’s athletic arena will soon bear the name of Eufaula native, Bill Neville, and his wife, Connie. The Neville Arena, where men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball events are held, will be dedicated the Neville Arena on March 4. An on-court recognition will be held on March 5 during the men’s basketball’s regular season game against South Carolina.
Alabama's First Class Pre-K Program is designed to engage young learners through play and teach them significant skills in various domains that will lead to academic success and more engaged learners as they navigate through the school system. The Pre-K Program emphasizes social-emotional skills as well as foundational concepts that directly relate to higher grades.
