75 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 14, 1947 Sixteen Junior Homemakers of the Clayton Chapter of Future Homemakers of America receive their Chapter Homemakers degrees and thirteen pledges became Junior Homemakers during a beautiful and inspirational ceremony Friday afternoon, presided over by Chapter president, Bobbie Smith. Receiving the Chapter Homemakers degree were: Bette Abercrombie, Maril Neil Bland, Billie Jean Boyd, Dorothy Boyd, Betty Hancock, Kathryn Helms, Mildred Jenkins, Ann Floyd Martin, Biliray Nix, Carolyn Snead, Jeannette Warr, Jeanette Whittington, Lucile Martin, Grace Williamson, Marion Faircloth, and Dorothy McGilvary.

75 YEARS AGO JANUARY 10, 1947 Robert McKinnon, president of the Clio FFA Chapter, won first place in the finals of the FFA Public Speaking Contest held in the auditorium of Barbour County High School Friday. His subject was “What Next, Future Farmers?” James Baxter, vice-president, acted as master of ceremonies for the contest.
