Eufaula schools mask update

Mitzi K. Clayton, Public Relations and Communication Specialist for Eufaula City Schools, has announced a Mask Update. Clayton states the change is due to lower COVID-19 positive and exposed numbers in buildings, masks are highly recommended but not required starting Monday, January 31, at Eufaula High School, Eufaula Elementary School and Eufaula Primary School.

Lakeside announces new head softball coach

Todd Clements has been named head softball coach at The Lakeside School in Eufaula. Coach Clements, a Eufaula native, graduated from Auburn University in 2005 and received his Master’s Degree from Troy University in 2017. He has an overall career record of 343-202. Coach Clements has won five area titles and has never missed the playoffs in his years of coaching softball. Clements has also been an assistant football coach for 14 years. He has been married to his wife, Haley, for 14 years, and their three children attend Lakeside.

EUFAULA HIGH BASS TEAM wins first place in tournament

FIRST PLACE -Despite the cold weather, the Eufaula High school Bass Team pushed through and, not only brought fish to the scales, but secured first place in the BAss Nation Tournament that took place over the weekend on Lake martin. shown at the weigh-in are, left to right, Bass Team member Damian Pugh, Boat Captain Travis Pugh and Bass Team member Danny “Turtle” Teal.

BARBOUR COUNTY TEEN MISS UNITED STATES AGRICULTURE 2023 - Emma Jo Smith of Clio has been chosen Barbour County’s 2023 Barbour County Teen Miss United States Agriculture. She attends Ariton School and is a member of the Junior High volleyball team and is also an active member in the FFA Chapter. She attends Clavary Assembly of God Church where she is an active member of Children’s Ministry and enjoys working with children. In her spare time she enjoys riding her 4-wheeler and helping her parents on the farm. She will represent Barbour County at the state pageant in Dothan on January 28, 2023. Emma Jo is the daughter of Brent and Chasity Smith.

Truck rams into mobile homes

Two mobile homes in Eufaula sustained considerable damages when the driver of a Chevrolet pick-up truck rammed into them Friday afternoon. Fortunately, there were no injuries inside the residences nor was the driver injured. The driver, Cordarell Lamar Hicks, 34, of Eufaula was taken into custody for Driving While Under Influence of Alcohol and Controlled Substances at the scene on West Washington Street.

Bakerhill pastor receives achievement award

Rev. James Johnson’s radio persona offers a familiar sound to those whose Sunday mornings once included a rush to get to worship with the sound of Gospel music blasting from the radio situated in the window stool. Nowadays, Johnson’s familiar voice graces Facebook Live Tuesdays through Fridays and Sunday mornings. Those who tune in have come to expect to hear nothing less than the best gospel music available. Johnson does not disappoint.
