Global Hunger Relief

Members of the Clayton Baptist Church participated in the Global Hunger Relief effort Sunday to help raise funds to combat world hunger in a very unique way. Those in attendance were served a bowl of soup and sandwiches during a “Soup and Sandwich” lunch following the morning worship service.

Two injured in traffic accident

Two men sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Alabama Highway 30 and County Road 53 Monday afternoon. Reports indicated at the scene that the driver of one vehicle, Jonathan Guilford of Georgetown, GA, was traveling east on Highway 30 on his way home from work when the other vehicle, driven by Rodney Ross of Clayton, was crossing Highway 30 from Highway 53 causing Guilford to hit Ross on the driver’s side.

Man arrested on drug charges

The recovery of various illegal drugs has resulted in the arrest of a Eufaula man after the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force conducted a raid on Friday, February 11. Ralph Kesheffi McNear, 37, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance X2, Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Councilman brings concerns to discuss at council meeting

Councilman Buddy Weston addressed several concerns during last week’s regular scheduled Clayton City Council meeting held Monday night, February 7. With the city being allocated an estimate $527,781.54 from the American Rescue Plan Act, Councilman Weston voiced a concern that the monies were being spent within the strict confines of the law and guidelines established.

Eufaula couple perishes in fire

A Eufaula couple perished in a house fire during the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 2. Unfortunately, when emergency personnel arrived on the scene, the single wide mobile home in which Vicki Elaine Gawor and Kurt Lloyd Gawor lived was fully engulfed in flames and smoke.
