State correctional facilities receive funding for drug addiction treatment

Barbour County’s two correctional institutions, Ventress Correctional Facility, located in Clayton and Easterling Correctional Facility, located in Clio, will be among recipients of monies from a grant to the state Department of Corrections. Gov. Kay Ivey awarded a $582,287 grant for a program aimed at helping inmates overcome drug addiction.

Commission district lines approved

New district lines for the Barbour County Commission’s seven districts gained unanimous approval at Tuesday’s regular meeting of the commission. After a public hearing was held prior to the meeting and no comments were made nor questions asked, the new map gained approval with no discussion from commissioners.
