Personnel actions gain approval of School Board

Several personnel actions gained approval at the May meeting of the Barbour County Board of Education. Superintendent Zickeyous Byrd recommended the following actions: Renee Richardson, transfer from CNP manager at BCHS to Interim CNP Manager at BCPS to replace Mina Johnson effective August 2; resignations of Isiah Boone as teacher at BCHS effective May 10 and Carlos Baggage as principal at BCIS effective June 30; employment of Daniel Powell as a teacher at BCHS to replace Crystal Green effective June 1; Virginia Rumph, custodian at BCIS, suspension without pay for one day effective May 10, and Ashley Meadows, transfer from District Interventionist to ESL teacher effective June 1.

EHS BOYS & GIRLS STATE

Eufaula High School is proud of 11th grade students, Annie Wingate and Sam Miller, who were selected by their teachers to be delegates for the Alabama Girls State and Alabama Boys State. The programs are sponsored by the American Legion. Boys State is being held at Troy University this week, May 29-June 4, and Girls State also will be held at Troy University June 5 - June 10. Participants learn about the democratic process and how our republic form of government works at the local, state, and national levels.

WORLD SERIES TROPHY ON DISPLAY AT CHAMBER

The Atlanta Braves 2021 World Series Trophy is shown when it was on display at the Eufaula Barbour County Chamber of Commerce recently. Fans had the opportunity to have their photos taken with the trophy. The World Series Trophy is on tour throughout Braves Country, featuring locations in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina and North Carolina that includes 151 stops to commemorate 151 years of Braves baseball. RSVP SIGN GETS UPDATE

RSVP SIGN GETS UPDATE - Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer members Thomas and Gena Hoskey recognized that the sign at the center needed an update. They beautified the sign by painting the sign and hanging flowers. Zola Denson, executive director of the RSVP Program, expressed her appreciation to the Hoskeys for the beautiful update and the support they give the RSVP program and the community. Mrs. Denson also expressed her appreciation to Tri-State Paint/PPG for donating the paint.
