Election officials certified results of the May 24 Republican and Democratic primaries last Tuesday and are already preparing for the June 21 run-off election. With record low turnout of voters to cast ballots in the May 24 primary elections, 23.71%, an even less voter turnout is expected in the runoff election.

Eufaula High School is proud of 11th grade students, Annie Wingate and Sam Miller, who were selected by their teachers to be delegates for the Alabama Girls State and Alabama Boys State. The programs are sponsored by the American Legion. Boys State is being held at Troy University this week, May 29-June 4, and Girls State also will be held at Troy University June 5 - June 10. Participants learn about the democratic process and how our republic form of government works at the local, state, and national levels.
Election results in Barbour County certified on Tuesday, one of the lowest turnouts in the county cast their vote in the May 24 primary election. Of the 17,143 registered voters in the county, only 4,065 voters or 23.71% cast their ballot.
