Officials prepare for run-off election to be held June 21
Election officials certified results of the May 24 Republican and Democratic primaries last Tuesday and are already preparing for the June 21 run-off election. With record low turnout of voters to cast ballots in the May 24 primary elections, 23.71%, an even less voter turnout is expected in the runoff election.
Barbour County students initiated into Honor Society
Dylan Mauldin of Eufaula and Brittney March of Clayton were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines at Troy University.

Governor of Utah appoints Grace Acosta to Utah board
Grace Acosta, Clayton native and former resident of Eufaula, has been appointed by Utah Gov. Spencer Cox as a member to serve on the Utah Board of Higher Education.
Memorial Day Observance
The World War II monument in Louisville pays tribute to soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for America surrounded with flags of our nation and a beautiful wreath for Memorial Day. We appreciate Sheila Fenn who took the picture and sharing it with us.
EHS BOYS & GIRLS STATE
Eufaula High School is proud of 11th grade students, Annie Wingate and Sam Miller, who were selected by their teachers to be delegates for the Alabama Girls State and Alabama Boys State. The programs are sponsored by the American Legion. Boys State is being held at Troy University this week, May 29-June 4, and Girls State also will be held at Troy University June 5 - June 10. Participants learn about the democratic process and how our republic form of government works at the local, state, and national levels.
Barbour election results certified
Election results in Barbour County certified on Tuesday, one of the lowest turnouts in the county cast their vote in the May 24 primary election. Of the 17,143 registered voters in the county, only 4,065 voters or 23.71% cast their ballot.
